Hilary Swank and Tom Wilkinson are attached to star in Denial, the David Hare-adapted drama based on Deborah E. Lipstadt’s book History On Trial: My Day In Court With A Holocaust Denier. The book recounts Lipstadt’s legal battle for historical truth against David Irving, who accused her of libel when she declared him a Holocaust denier. It was up to Lipstadt and her legal team to prove the essential truth that the Holocaust actually happened and that Irving had manipulated data to make history vanish.
The Bodyguard and Temple Grandin helmer Mick Jackson will direct and Gary Foster and Russ Krasnoff will produce under their Krasnoff/Foster Entertainment banner alongside Shoebox Films. Participant Media developed the project with BBC Films, and they are in discussions to co-finance. Alison Thompson is handling international sales on the title, which will go before buyers next month at the Cannes market.
Swank is repped by CAA; Wilkinson by Lou Coulson Associates and Larry Taube; Jackson by Equitable Stewardship for Artists; and Hare is repped by Casarotto Ramsay & Associates.
