Filmmaker Russell Wolfe, one of the producers of the successful indie Christian movie God’s Not Dead, died this week in Scottsdale, AZ. Wolfe, who was 50, died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Wolfe was a co-founder of the faith-based production company Pure Flix. God’s Not Dead, released last year, grossed more than $60 million and was made for a reported budget of $2 million. Wolfe was diagnosed with ALS in December 2013 while the movie was in production, according to CBN.
“As one of the founding fathers of Pure Flix, Russell always represented the vision to make a positive impact for Christ,” Pure Flix co-founder David A.R. White said in a statement. “He did this consistently through his work, life, and relationships.”
Among Wolfe’s other movie credits were What if… and In the Blink of an Eye.
