ABC unveiled some plans for its coverage of the next Democratic debate which once again, has been scheduled on a Saturday, December 19. Most important: the network’s World News Tonight anchor David Muir will moderate, along with chief global affairs correspondent Martha Raddatz, and WMUR-TV anchor Josh McElveen. This after ABC News‘ chief anchor George Stephanopoulos in May stepped aside from moderating debates this election cycle when it came to light he’d made donations to the Clinton Foundation without disclosing those contributions to his employers.
Stephanopoulos will instead anchor the network’s Your Voice, Your Vote election coverage from now until Election Day. That includes anchoring the network’s broadcasts from the debates, the two parties’ conventions, and on Election Night. ABC News will partner with ABC affiliate WMUR-TV (owned by Hearst Television), and the New Hampshire Union Leader for the Dem and GOP debates in New Hampshire, on December 19 and February 6, respectively. Both will take place at Saint Anselm College in Manchester. The Independent Journal/IJ.com will partner with ABC News for the GOP debate.
