John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings franchise) has been cast as a regular in Fox‘s 13-episode series Hieroglyph, from 20th TV and Chernin Entertainment. Set in ancient Egypt, where fantasy and reality intertwined, it follows Ambrose, a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharoah (Reece Ritchie), navigating palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and even a few divine sorcerers. Rhys-Davies, repped by Jeff Goldberg Management and Louisa Spring Management, will play Vocifer, Ambrose’s one-time mentor who was a dashing thief back in his day.

Allyn Rachel has been cast in ABC/Warner Bros TV single-camera comedy pilot Selfie, written by Emily Kapnek and directed by Julie Anne Robinson. It centers on Eliza Dooley (Karen Gillan), a self-obsessed, twentysomething who is more concerned with “likes” than being liked. Rachel will play Eliza’s adorable neighbor, who is her opposite: a hipster girl’s girl and member of a devoted book club. Rachel, who also is a writer, is coming off a script development deal at Uni TV this past season. She is with CAA, Truhett-Garcia Management and attorney Lev Ginsburg.
