A three-year high of 4.1 million viewers watched Barbara Walters‘ final on-air week on The View. Among woman 18-49, Babs so-long week — including a Thursday reunion of all of the show’s co-hosts, and Friday’s parade of female news and infotainment TV talent who credited Walters with opening the door — earned a 1 1/2-year high (648,000 viewers). The week’s female crowd skewed older, with an average of 830,000 women 25-54 tuned in across the week but 204,000 women 18-34; both were 1-year highs.
Those weekly stats represent a 41% year-to-year increase in total viewers (4.1 million vs. 2.9 million), a 38% spike in women 18-49 (648,000 vs. 471,000) and a 27% hike in women 25-54 (830,000 vs. 653,000).
Friday’s farewell to Walters – her 3,811th The View telecast – qualified as the series’ No. 4-ranked broadcast in its 17-year history in total viewers (5.2 million) and generated its best ratings in more than 18 months in women 18-49 (818,000/1.3 rating) and women 25-54 (1.0 million/1.6 rating).
