Two months before Disney/Marvel‘s Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on May 1, tickets are already going on sale at Fandango today. In addition, launching on their site is a new trailer for the Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth headliner.
Marvel’s The Avengers, released on May 4, 2012, owns the highest opening domestic weekend of all-time with $207.4M at 4,349 theaters. The Joss Whedon-directed film, which repped the first time-ever that a majority of Marvel superheros starred together on-screen, received an A+ CinemaScore and finaled its domestic run at $623.4M becoming the third highest grossing film at the U.S./Canada box office after 2009’s Avatar ($760.5M) and Titanic ($658.7M).
Avengers: Age of Ultron sees the team this time around dealing with Ultron, a technological enemy accidentally spurred by Tony Stark resurrecting a dormant peacekeeping program. James Spader provides the voice of Ultron, with Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver and Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaw joining the cast during the second go-round.
Those purchasing advance tickets to Avengers: Age of Ultron on Fandango will be automatically entered into a sweepstakes for the chance to attend the Hollywood world premiere and after-party on April 13.
