It’s been nearly two decades since Jerry Maguire wrote that infamous mission statement that got him canned. Now Esquire Network is returning to the world of cutthroat pro football reps with The Agent, a 10-episode documentary series set to kick off in July.
With exclusive access beginning last fall, the series chronicles the journey leading up to the NFL 2015 draft: the relentless ambition, ruthless pressure and high stakes of the pursuit to secure that top pick. Some call it the hustle and grind, but it’s all about survival.
Starting in September, producers were given exclusive access to chronicle the journey of four agents — Jeff Guerriero, Peter Schaffer, Sunny Shah and Ed Wasielewski — leading up to the 2015 NFL draft. From contract negotiations, endorsement deals, recruiting, private clubs and training to meetings with scouts and veteran players in the NFL, viewers will get a rare look at the behind-the-scenes business dealings as the agents try to secure that top pick.
The Agent is executive produced by Mark Herzog and Christopher G. Cowen (CNN’s The Sixties) along with Vincent DiPersio and Josh Mamann. Mamann’s Media Verite originated the idea and he and DiPersio are repped by APA.
