Aja Naomi King, Aunjanue Ellis, Colman Domingo, Dwight Henry, Roger Guenveur Smith and Gabrielle Union have joined the cast of The Birth Of A Nation, a biopic of slave-turned-revolutionary Nat Turner. Nate Parker wrote and directed the film and stars as Turner, who led a bloody rebellion in 1831 and went down in history as one of the most controversial American figures preceding the Civil War. Armie Hammer also stars. Production will begin in mid-May in Savannah, GA
Ryan Gosling is circling a lead role in The Haunted Mansion, Guillermo del Toro’s long-gestating film based on the Disneyland attraction. Del Toro electrified the crowd when he announced the project during Disney’s panel at Comic-Con in 2010. It has been in development since. Gosling’s recent credits include Only God Forgives, Gangster Squad and The Place Beyond The Pines. He next appears in Terrence Malick’s Weightless. Gosling made his writing and directing debut on Lost River, which premiered at Cannes and opens Friday via Warner Bros.
