“They need a savior,” young King Tut avers. “They crave a hero. And they will worship the man who can bring them to victory.” Here’s our first look at Tut, Spike TV’s sword-and-scandals event series starring Ben Kingsley and Avan Jogia as Ancient Egypt’s Boy King. The Gandhi Oscar winner plays Ay, the Grand Vizier to King Tutankhamun who wields tremendous power and influence as his top adviser. There’s sex, violence, politics, intrigue, conspiracy, slashing, slapping and much shing-shing-ing as swords are unsheathed and unleashed. Nonso Anozie, Sibylla Deen, Kylie Bunbury, Alexander Siddig, Peter Gadiot and Iddo Goldberg also star in the six-hour, three-night epic.
Tut is produced for Spike by Muse Entertainment, with exec producers Joel S. Rice and Michael Prupas, Greg Gugliotta, Michael Vickerman, Jeremy Elice, Angela Mancuso, Sharon Levy and David Von Ancken, who also directs. Michael Vickerman, Peter Paige & Bradley Bredeweg wrote the teleplay. Spike TV’s first scripted event series in eight years begins its campaign July 19.
