Just days after the sequel topped the box office with a $70 million debut, FX Networks has snagged exclusive worldwide TV rights to Pitch Perfect 2. The musical comedy, directed by Elizabeth Banks and starring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Hailee Steinfeld, is the latest mega-hit to be acquired for television by FX Networks for FX, FXX and FXM.
Last month, FX Networks secured TV rights to Furious 7, which is closing in on $1.5 billion worldwide. It also licensed Taken 3, which topped the box office in January, and the February hit Kingsman: The Secret Service. Last year, FX Nets scooped TV rights to nearly two-thirds of the films that topped $100 million in box office. Among those were How To Train Your Dragon 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
