EXCLUSIVE: True-crime channel Investigation Discovery is getting into the original scripted drama business with Serial Thriller: Angel Of Decay, and here’s a first look at the three-night miniseries premiering in June. Seems a “magnetic, charming” guy is dispatching lovely young women in the Pacific Northwest in the 1970s. The terrorized community looks to a pair of local police investigators to examine some gory crime scenes and figure out who is behind the bloodshed before the killer strikes again. Details of personal and intimate relationships emerge that might offer clues, but what do they all mean?
“With so many mass murderers etched into the public mind, the severity and depravity of their crimes is often lost in the ether,” said Henry Schleiff, Group President at Discovery. “We wanted to remind the audience that these killers were once just faces in a crowd, chillingly under the radar as they committed the most heinous of acts.”
Ryan Gage, Elliot Cowan, Demetri Goritsas, Abigail Hardingham and Hilary Connell star in writer-director Jamie Crawford’s Serial Thriller, which was produced by October Films. The network said it will be packaged into a feature-length for theatrical release. Meanwhile, the mini, which was unveiled at Discovery Communications’ upfront in late March, will air at 10 PM on June 7-9.
