CBS unveiled new on-air promos for Late Show With Stephen Colbert during newsmag 60 Minutes tonight. Colbert’s been very busy, video-wise, walking up to his September 8 launch as David Letterman’s successor.
He celebrated Donald Trump’s decision to end decades of torturing late night comics and actually run for POTUS, launching his own campaign, Shut Up Dummy, saying, “Donald Trump is running for president and he’s going to make late night television great again.”
He celebrated SCOTUS on its ruling on gay marriage and those it affected, marveling, “If you’re a homosexual and living in North Dakota, all your problems are solved!”, adding, “Wow, history moves fast. It’s hard to believe gay Americans achieved full personhood just five years after corporations did.”
He also guest-hosted a Monroe, Michigan public access TV show, Only in Monroe, in which he interviewed Marshall Mathers, “a local Michigander who is making a name for himself in the competitive world of music.”
“I’m so confused right now, I’m trying to figure out if you’re serious,” Mathers, aka Eminem, told Colbert at one point in the interview, during which Colbert explained rap is a great hobby but he needs a career to pay the bills, and tried to get Eminem to join him in singing Bob Seger tunes.
He also debuted a weeklong web series, Stephen Colbert Has Daily Lunch With You starring Stephen Colbert.
