EXCLUSIVE: Dorian Brown has been set as the lead in Running Wild, the drama from newly launched ESX Entertainment that continues to ramp up following yesterday’s get of Sharon Stone.
Brown, who co-starred on FX’s comedy series Wilfred, will play the Western pic’s heroine Stella Collins, a widow who saves her ranch by working with convicts to rehabilitate a herd of wild horses that wandered on her property. She must fight prejudice, greed, bureaucracy and vanity –- including her own –- to finally understand that there is no better remedy to misfortune than helping another living creature. Stone plays Meredith, the film’s heavy. Tommy Flanagan (Sons Of Anarchy) also has boarded the pic as Ponytail Jon, a convict who is part of the program. The inmates are taught how to tame wild horses, and in the process, the horses also tame the men.
Alex Ranarivelo is directing from a script by Christina Moore and Brian Rudnick. Principal photography begins this week in Napa, CA. ESX is financing and producing, with Forrest Lucas and Ali Afshar serving as producers and Moore as co-producer.
