Rialto Pictures has acquired North American theatrical rights to Ingrid Bergman – In Her Own Words, the feature-length documentary about the the film icon which played the Cannes Film Festival in May. The pic, which premiered there to celebrate what would have been her 100th birthday, received a special mention at the Cannes awards and its subject was everywhere you turned on the Croisette — Bergman’s face was on the fest’s official poster.
The doc, written and directed by Stig Björkman, will begin its theatrical run November 13 at the Lincoln Plaza Cinemas in New York before adding Los Angeles’ Nuart on December 11. It also has a spot in the upcoming New York Film Festival.
Among the talking heads in the pic: Bergman’s four children (Isabella, Ingrid Rossellini, Roberto Rossellini, and Pia Lindström), Fiorella Mariani, Liv Ullmann, Sigourney Weaver and Jeanine Basinger. Alicia Vikander narrates.
Rialto licensed the title from Paris-based Pretty Pictures.
