Disney Media Distribution has racked up strong sales on a clutch of projects. ABC Studios’ latest Shondaland drama series, The Catch, has been licensed to broadcasters in 186 territories worldwide with deals in place for France, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Hong Kong, New Zealand, China, South Africa and Nigeria among others. Executive produced by Shondaland’s Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, The Catch is a new thriller centered on the strong, successful Alice Martin (Mireille Enos), a fraud investigator who’s about to be the victim of fraud herself by her fiancé.
Previous Shondaland shows How To Get Away With Murder has generated sales to date for Disney/ABC in 225 territories, Grey’s Anatomy in 238 territories and political thriller Scandal 229 territories.
Disney’s distribution slate also includes the return of the much-loved The Muppets, which has been licensed to broadcasters in 122 territories worldwide. Deals include the UK, Ireland, Italy, Denmark, Greece, Vietnam, South Africa, China, Afghanistan to Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Russia, the Middle East.
The Muppets return in docu-style show that explores tongue-in-cheek the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory) and Bob Kushell (Anger Management) are co-writers and exec producers with Randall Einhorn and Bill Barretta. The Muppets is produced by ABC Studios and The Muppets Studio.
