Eight-part original series A Woman’s Place: The Frontlines Of Feminism highlights the revolutionaries, leaders, and activists who are leading female empowerment efforts in communities around the world, including the Philippines, Ecuador, Senegal, Brazil, Turkey, Egypt, Sweden and the United States.The original series, from Refinery29 and We Are the XX co-founders Kassidy Brown and Allison Rapson, is executive produced by former top NBCUniversal cable exec Lauren Zalaznick.
The first episode follows Brown and Rapson to the Philippines to explore the evolving transgender culture and battle, led by Maki, a transgender woman who is fighting for her community to receive legal recognition and healthcare, among other basic rights.
“I was inspired by Allison and Kassidy’s unwavering mission to champion women around the
world and I’m proud to help amplify the creators’ voice and those of the women profiled in ‘A
Woman’s Place’,” said Zalaznick, who serves as a strategic adviser to Refinery29.
