Jordana Spiro (The Good Wife) has been tapped for the lead in The Wilding, USA Network‘s two-hour backdoor pilot from Universal Cable Prods. and executive producers Tim Kring and writer-creator Silka Luisa.
The supernatural drama is part of a broader initiative at UCP and the NBCUniversal cable networks it supplies to jump-start a greater volume of quality series at a lower license fee through a model that involves UCP supplementing the high-end budget for the shows through financing via collaborations with international networks and SVOD deals.
In The Wilding, across North Carolina, disparate people realize they’re connected by the same haunting. Their only hope is a fractured family battling the repercussions of a teenage pregnancy, addiction, and the discovery that they belong to a subset of people with supersensory abilities, Wildings. Spiro will play Margaret Hayes, a psychiatrist whose teenage daughter has been diagnosed with a delusional disorder, though Kayla’s true “condition” makes her the one patient Margaret can’t save.
Kring and Luisa executive produce with Imperative’s Justin Levy and Bailey Conway and Automatik Entertainment’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones. Ciarán Foy will direct the pilot.
Former My Boys star Spiro is recurring on NBC’s new thriller drama Blindspot. She is repped by ICM Partners, Authentic Talent and Literary Management and Principal Entertainment LA.
