Thousands of years from now, three heroes will undertake a journey to save the human race from a demon army. And this is how it will look (see above), according to the just-revealed key art for MTV‘s The Shannara Chronicles. Your saviors are Eretria (Ivana Baquero), a human rover; Amberle (Poppy Drayton), an Elvin princess; and Wil (Austin Butler), half-elf, half-human, all dreamy. Manu Bennett and John Rhys-Davies also star in the series, which MTV produced with Sonar Entertainment.
The story revolves around the Shannara family, whose descendants are empowered with ancient magic and whose adventures continuously reshape the future of the world. The 10-episode straight-to-series drama is written by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, based on Terry Brooks’ fantasy book series. Production wrapped in June in New Zealand. The show will have a panel Saturday at New York Comic-Con. Gough and Millar are EPs and showrunners, with Brooks, Jon Favreau, Jonathan Liebesman — who directed the first two episodes — and Dan Farah also serving as executive producers.
The Shannara Chronicles premieres in January.
