CBS’ Simon & Schuster imprint will publish the final volume in Stephen King‘s Bill Hodges trilogy on June 7, 2016. End Of Watch follows Mr. Mercedes (2014) and Finders Keepers (2015). An audio edition will be released simultaneously by Simon & Schuster Audio. David E. Kelley is developing a TV limited series for Sonar Entertainment based on Mr. Mercedes.
In End Of Watch, Brady Hartsfield, perpetrator of the mass murder described in Mr. Mercedes, has been in the Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic for five years, in a vegetative state. But behind the drool and stare, per Scribner, Brady is awake and in possession of deadly new powers that allow him to wreak unimaginable havoc without ever leaving his hospital room.
Retired police detective Bill Hodges, the unlikely hero of the two earlier novels, now runs an investigation agency with his partner, Holly Gibney, who delivered the blow to Hartsfield’s head that put him on the brain injury ward. A new crime connected to the “Mercedes Massacre” draws them into the deadly case.
William Goldman’s adaptation of King’s best-seller Misery, starring Bruce Willis and Laurie Metcalfe and staged by Will Frears, is set to begin Broadway previews on October 22.
