Harry, a new daytime variety show hosted by multi-hyphenate Harry Connick Jr, is the first new syndicated show cleared for next fall. Harry will debut in September 2016 in national syndication on Fox-owned TV stations in 17 markets, it was announced today by Ed Swindler, President, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution and NBC Broadcast Operations.
Harry also is being sold to other leading station groups across the country for its debut next fall. Former Late Show With David Letterman head writers and exec producers Justin and Eric Stangel will serve as executive producers for Harry, along with Connick and Anne Marie Wilkins.
Drawing inspiration from the family-friendly variety shows of the past, Harry will include various segments — from comedic man-on-the-street interviews, live musical performances and parodies, to hilarious stunts and audience participation and surprises.
Two-time Emmy winner Connick joined American Idol as judge in 2013 and will return alongside fellow judges Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez when the reality singing competition’s final season premieres in January. His feature credits include Little Man Tate, Copycat, Independence Day, Hope Floats and most recently Dolphin Tale and its sequel. He also had a lead role ABC’s South Pacific and recurred in long-running sitcom Will & Grace. He received Tony noms for the musical Thou Shalt Not and as lead actor in the Tony-winning revival of The Pajama Game.
Harry is produced and distributed by NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution.
