Neither has gotten a full-season order, but The CW has picked up five additional episodes of freshman comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, bringing the total to 18 episodes for its first season. The network also has ordered six additional episodes of Rob Thomas’ zom-dram-rom-com iZombie, for a total of 19 episodes in its second season.
The network has been high on both series, ordering additional scripts before each show premiered. Neither have had terribly strong ratings performances this season, but Crazy Ex-Girlfriend hit a viewership high on November 1, pulling in its best audience yet with 977,000.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend stars Rachel Bloom as a successful, driven and possibly crazy young Manhattan woman who impulsively gives up everything in a desperate attempt to find love and happiness in that exotic hotbed of romance and adventure: West Covina, CA. Santino Fontana, Donna Lynne, Vincent Rodriguez III, Pete Gardner and Vella Lovell also star,. From CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is also executive produced by Bloom, along with Aline Brosh McKenna, Marc Webb and Erin Ehrlich.
iZombie stars Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley and David Anders. Based on characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, and published by DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, iZombie is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Spondoolie Prods and Warner Bros. TV, with executive producers Rob Thomas, Diane Ruggiero-Wright, Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge.
