Louis C.K. is getting animated. The Louie creator/star has teamed with Albert Brooks to co-create, co-write, executive produce and provide the two lead voices for an animated comedy, which has received a pilot order from FX. The show, whose premise is unclear, expands C.K. and Brooks’ recent collaboration on another animated project: They are in the voice cast of Illumination’s upcoming feature The Secret Life Of Pets.
The FX pilot comes from C.K.’s Pig Newton. The company has quickly ramped up its portfolio under its overall deal with FX Prods. In addition to FX’s Louie, which is taking a break after five seasons, Pig Newton has three new comedy series: Baskets starring Zach Galifianakis and Better Things starring Pamela Adlon for FX, as well as One Mississippi starring Tig Notaro for Amazon.
This marks writer-actor-director Brooks’ debut as a TV creator. He started on Saturday Night Live before segueing to a feature career, most recently co-starring opposite Will Smith in Concussion. He is repped by WME and manager Herb Nanas. C.K. co-stars in another feature awards contender, Trumbo. He is repped by 3 Arts and attorney David Weber.
On the animated side, FX Networks recently picked up to series pilot Cassius And Clay, co-created by Archer creator/executive producer Adam Reed, to be paired with Archer on the comedy-centric FXX. Cassius And Clay is no longer going forward.
