EXCLUSIVE: Fox has acquired the Kyle Starks graphic novel Sexcastle, a throwback to 80s action movies tale of the world’s former great assassin, who leaves the world of killing and retires to a small town. Naturally, he’s pulled back in. The catalyst for the picture will be the gang behind the Comedy Central show Workaholics. The film will be directed by Kyle Newacheck and Blake Anderson is attached to play the title character, Shane Sexcastle. Anderson and Newacheck will be producers along with Getaway Productions’ Anthony and Joe Russo and Mike Larocca.
Newacheck directs, edits and producers Workaholics, and also plays the role of Karl Hevachek. He’s also director and exec producer of Adam DeVine’s House Party, also on Comedy Central. Anderson is a co-creator, writer, producer, and star of Workaholics, whose sixth season premieres tomorrow. He has also appeared in Community and Parks and Recreations as well as the Sundance film Dope. Newacheck and Anderson are repped by WME and Avalon Management.
Aside from their Marvel work directing Captain America: Civil War to be followed by the upcoming Avengers Infinity War Part I and II, The Russos have produced and directed the TV shows Arrested Development, Community, and Happy Endings. Larocca is the president of their Sony-based Getaway Productions, and was formerly Chernin Entertainment’s senior veep and an exec producer of Spy. Fox’s Daria Cercek is shepherding for Fox.
