ProSieben’s Red Arrow Entertainment Group has added another U.S. production company to its portfolio, acquiring a majority stake in Denver-based non-scripted and branded entertainment producer Orion Entertainment, which is behind cable series Tiny House Big Living and Living Big Sky, Building Alaska, Treehouse Guys. Orion Entertainment will continue to be led by founder Chris Dorsey, undergoing a name change to Dorsey Pictures.
Orion, which has the option to be bought outright down the line, joins Red Arrow’s other U.S. holdings, Kinetic Content, Fabrik Entertainment, Left/Right Productions, Half Yard Productions and Karga Seven Pictures. The boom of European congloms buying U.S. production companies has subsided as many of them have already been spoken for, leading to occasional one-off deals for lower-profile outfits.
“Chris and his wife Amy along with minority partner Larry Sletten have built a terrific business,” said Jan Frouman, CEO of Red Arrow Entertainment Group.
Orion Entertainment was advised by ACF Investment Bank and Sidley Austin. Red Arrow was advised by Stella Capital Advisors and Milbank.
