Michael Offer is back in Shondaland. The helmer, who directed the pilot for the Shonda Rhimes-produced hit ABC drama How To Get Away With Murder, has been tapped to direct the latest ABC drama pilot from Rhimes and Betsy Beers’ production company — Still Star-Crossed.
The Romeo and Juliet sequel was written by Heather Mitchell (Scandal) based on the book by Melinda Taub. Set in 16th century Verona, it picks up where William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet left off, charting the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers’ tragic fate. Mitchell, Rhimes, Beers and Michael R. Goldstein executive produce for ABC Studios.
For Offer, the gig stems from an exclusive blind pilot-directing deal he signed with ABC Studios in June. At ABC, he also helmed drama pilot Runner last season and was brought in to reshoot the pilot for ABC’s upcoming biblical drama Of Kings and Prophets last fall. Offer is repped by ICM Partners and Writ Large.
