EXCLUSIVE: Laura Dern, Brian d’Arcy James and Hope Davis have been added to the cast of Rebel In The Rye, Danny Strong‘s J.D. Salinger biopic starring Nicholas Hoult and Kevin Spacey. This comes ahead of the pic’s planned start of production in April.
Bloom is handling international sales at the European Film Market in Berlin, where they helped spearhead Paramount’s deal for the George Clooney starrer Suburbicon. CAA is repping North American rights on Rye.
Strong penned the screenplay based on Kenneth Slawenski’s biography J.D. Salinger: A Life. The pic takes a journey into the life and mind of the legendary and secretive author (Hoult) and tells the story of the birth of The Catcher in the Rye. Spacey plays Whit Burnett, one of Salinger’s early mentors.
Black Label Media is financing with Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill producing alongside Strong, Bruce Cohen and Jason Shuman.
Dern is repped by CAA, D’Arcy James by Gersh and Thruline Entertainment and Davis by UTA.
