EXCLUSIVE: DreamWorks and filmmaker Joe Carnahan have parted ways on the long-in-development project Motorcade about a disgraced Secret Service agent who gets embroiled in a kidnapping attempt of the President of the United States as the Commander-in-Chief’s motorcade makes its way through Los Angeles. The project has had some high-profile talent circling it in the past, including Tom Cruise and Ryan Reynolds (who is co-starring in this weekend’s opener Criminal).
Carnahan came onto the project to help develop it a little over a year ago as a vehicle for him to direct. Billy Ray wrote the script initially in development with Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald whose Parkes + MacDonald Image Nation is producing. DreamWorks is still very enthused about moving the project forward, which has been described as a smart, action thriller. In fact, DreamWorks is in the process of hiring a new writer for the project.
