Blumhouse has put a few release dates on hold in Universal‘s calendar. Currently two untitled films will occupy Feb. 24 and April 28 in 2017 raising the label’s total to four next year on the Uni sked including M. Night Shyamalan’s Split on Jan. 20 and a pre-Halloween title on Oct. 20. Blumhouse also has through Weinstein/Dimension, Amityville: The Awakening opening on Jan. 6.
On Feb. 24, 2017 Blumhouse will battle Paramount’s Bad Robot sci-fi thriller God Particle, while on April 28 the production co. has the only title on the weekend, a week before summer kicks off with Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on May 5.
Also, Blumhouse is planning 2018 releases on Jan. 5 and Oct. 19. The first weekend in January is free and clear of any frosh wide competition while Oct. 19 has Warner Bros. Jungle Book: Origins.
Next up for Blumhouse this year is BH Tilt’s The Darkness with Kevin Bacon, Rahda Mitchell and Matt Walsh; The Purge: Election Year on July 1 via Uni and Ouija 2 on Oct. 21.
