When your Broadway smash hit has just been laureled with a record-breaking 16 Tony Award nominations — three for yourself alone — you need to step up your game. That was the case today — Star Wars Day — for Hamilton writer/composer-lyricist/star Lin-Manuel Miranda. The show has resumed “Ham4Ham,” the free entertainment offered outside the Richard Rodgers Theatre for the folks standing on line for a chance to win $10 tickets in the show’s lottery. The event has become one of NYC’s top destinations for both audiences and stars who want to perform, and today was no exception. Before a cheering — er, screaming — crowd of fans, Miranda introduced Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams, and told the story of how happenstance made Miranda a contributor to the film. He wrote the music for the bar scene, which he and Abrams proceeded to sing. Here’s the video, courtesy of Deadline unofficial stringer Howard Sherman. (Note that Miranda is wearing a jacket and tie. Like his show, this is historic.)
