Diane Kruger has been set to star in Fatih Akin’s In the Fade (Aus Dem Nichts), the helmer’s next film after Why We Took The Car. It will mark the first German-language project for Kruger (Inglourious Basterds, FX’s The Bridge), who was born in Germany. It begins shooting in the fall in Akin’s hometown of Hamburg, with details on the plot still under wraps. Akin’s Bombero International is producing, with Melita Toscan du Plantier and Marie-Jean Pascal of Macassar Productions co-producing. Kruger is next up in The Infiltrator opposite Bryan Cranston, which Broad Green is set to release July 13, and in the can is Disorder opposite Matthias Schoenaerts which premiered last year in Toronto. She’s repped by UTA and UBBA.
Jena Malone will star in A Moment To Remember, a drama directed by The Sessions helmer Ben Lewin. He wrote the script with Erin Brokovish scribe Susannah Grant. The story centers on a husband whose wife (Malone) is stricken with a disease that wipes away her memory. He then desperately tries to give her one last memory of their love before it’s too late. Mark Amin, Cami Winikoff and Scott Lambert are producers and The Exchange is selling international rights at Cannes.
