Ike Barinholtz has been tapped to co-star in Mother/Daughter, the 20th Century Fox comedy pairing Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn. Jonathan Levine is directing a script by Ghostbusters scribe Kate Dippold who based the story on her relationship with her mother. Barinholtz’s deal is done and he will play Schumer’s brother. Christopher Meloni and Oscar Jaenada are also aboard.
Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are producing through Chernin Entertainment, and Paul Feig and Jessie Henderson via Feigco Entertainment. Schumer, Dippold and Kimberly Caramele are executive producers and provided additional script work. Daria Cercek is overseeing for Fox.
Barinholtz has been busy. On the acting side, he returns to Universal’s Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising which opens Friday, and he also co-stars in Warner Bros’ upcoming Suicide Squad. He’s now in production on Peter Landesman’s biopic Felt opposite Liam Neeson. On the writing side, he and David Stassen co-wrote the Warner Bros comedy Central Intelligence starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, which bows next month, and he is now writing Balls for Universal with Amy Poehler aboard.
Barinholtz, who also co-stars, co-writes and co-produces Hulu’s The Mindy Project, is repped by UTA, Principato-Young and attorney Jared Levine.
