Michael Barbieri is in negotiations to join the cast of Sony Pictures‘ Spider-Man: Homecoming, the reboot of the Marvel franchise. Tom Holland stars and the pic is being directed by Jon Watts from a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein.
Barbieri, 14, was most recently was cast in Sony’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower. He is playing Timmy in that movie opposite Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey.
He broke out in the Sundance Film Festival pic Little Men directed by Ira Sachs. He was scooped up by WME and 3 Arts Entertainment during the fest as buzz grew about his performance in his first feature. He starred with fellow first-timer Theo Taplitz as two best friends who get dragged in their parents’ battle over a NYC lease.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is set for a July 7, 2017 release and also stars Michael Keaton, Marissa Tomei, Zendaya and Robert Downey Jr.
