The same day Pierce Brosnan was tapped to replace Sam Neill as star of AMC‘s upcoming drama The Son, Jacob Lofland has been set to play the character’s younger version. Based on the book by Philipp Meyer and written by Meyer, Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, The Son is a multi-generational epic tale of the story of America’s birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas family.
Lofland will play the young Eli McCullough. Charming, self-reliant, intensely curious and a
fast learner, he’s also recklessly impulsive, with a fire and lust for life. He lives in a time when innocence and complete brutality exist side by side. He is raised in captivity among the Comanche and can only survive by understanding his captors — even if it means truly becoming one of them. Brosnan plays the adult Eli, who applies the brutal Comanche worldview to his business dealings.
Lofland did a Season 5 arc on FX’s Justified as Kendal Crowe, the youngest member of a criminal family, who witnesses a murder committed by his uncle. He also appeared in the History miniseries Texas Rising and Maze Runner sequel The Scorch Trials and is set to return for the threequel in the YA franchise. His films include Mud and Little Accidents. He’ll be on the big screen later this month in Free State of Jones, starring Matthew McConaughey. Lofland is repped by ICM Partners and Management 360.
