CBS’s two-hour Big Brother return controlled Wednesday night ratings with a 1.8 demo rating and 6.14 million viewers, taking every half hour in those and other key metrics. Not such a strong performance from the network’s launch of American Gothic, which fell to a 0.7 in the demo off its BB leadin (though a 1.0 among adults 25-54) and 3.53M viewers.
BB dominated competitors both its hours. That included Fox’s Masterchef (1.0, 3.7M) and Wayward Pines (0.7, 2.4M); ABC’s comedy repeats at 8 (0.8, 3.6M) and at 9 (0.9, 3.3M); NBC’s American Ninja Warrior repeat (8 PM: 0.9, 3.3M.
9 PM: 1.1, 3.8M) and CW’s encores of Arrow (0.2, 796K) and Supernatural (0.3, 941K).
At 10 PM, however, American Gothic finished second to NBC’s The Night Shift (0.9, 4.3M) and shared second place in the demo with ABC’s repeats of Fresh off the Boat and The Real O’Neals, which clocked a collective 0.7 and 2.5M viewers in the hour.
Nonetheless, CBS swept the night with a 1.5 demo rating and 5.3M viewers. NBC followed (1.0, 3.8M), with Fox (0.9, 3.0M), ABC (0.8, 3.1M), and CW (0.2, 868K) lining up in that order.
