Lost and Oz alum Harold Perrineau and Saint George co-star Jenn Lyon have been cast as series regulars in the TNT pilot Claws. The hourlong dark dramedy starring Nicey Nash hails from Rashida Jones and Will McCormack’s Le Train Train, in association with Warner Horizon Television and TNT Original Productions.
Written and co-executive produced by Eliot Laurence, Claws follows the lives of five diverse and treacherous Florida manicurists. It soon becomes clear there is a lot more going on at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon than silk wraps and pedicures. Executive Producer Janine Sherman Barrois is set as showrunner. Nicole Kassell is directing the pilot.
Perrineau will play Dean, the mentally ill twin brother of salon owner Desna Simms (Nash). He and Desna adore each other, and he relies on her for everything. They also share a crappy apartment, from which Dean dreams of the good life. Lyon is Jennifer, Desna’s best friend and co-worker. A former hard partier who now is tenuously sober, she is a married mother of two young girls who deeply loves her family but sometimes feels trapped.
Perrineau’s recent credits include Constantine, Wedding Band and Sons of Anarchy, and he has several movies in the pipeline such as Akiva Goldsman’s Stephanie and Malcolm D. Lee’s The Best Man Wedding, reprising his role from the first two films in the latter franchise. He is repped by APA. Lyon did a season-long arc on Justified and appeared in Louie, Suburgatory and telepic Phil Spector. She is with TalentWorks and Patty Woo Management.
