Alison Emilio has been named director of the Systemic Change Project, a joint venture between Women in Film and the Sundance Institute dedicated to achieving gender equality in Hollywood – starting with more jobs for female film and TV directors.
A former SVP Marketing and Publicity at New Line Cinema, Emilio most recently served as VP Marketing and Strategic Partnerships at CreativeFuture, where she advanced the advocacy group’s efforts to stem the theft of American intellectual property.
The Systemic Change Project grew out of a secret meeting of 44 industry leaders in October that set a course “for solving the gender parity issue that plagues Hollywood.”
“In Alison Emilio we have found the leader we need to manage our multi-faceted project, and we look forward to building momentum as we engage and unify decision makers in Hollywood,” Sundance Institute executive director Keri Putnam said in announcing the hire.
Added Kirsten Schaffer, executive director of Women in Film Los Angeles: “She has the programmatic experience, management skills and film industry relationships to oversee the dynamic systemic change strategy we seek to advance gender equality in media.”
