VH1‘s Hip Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens pulled in more than 3 million viewers Monday night, the network said today.
Airing live for the first time in franchise history, Hip Hop Honors rose 34% over the previous iteration in 2010 and was VH1’s highest-rated tentpole in 15 years.
After a six-year hiatus, this year’s show celebrated the trailblazing first ladies of hip hop, featuring host Eve, Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, Lil’ Kim, Salt-n-Pepa, First Lady Michelle Obama, Common, Pharrell, Puff Daddy, Timbaland, LL Cool J, Nelly Furtado, Naughty by Nature, Fantasia and others.
Hip Hop Honors helped push VH1 to its highest-rated Monday night in nearly a year and was the No. 1 cable program in its time period with women, according to the network and Nielsen. The network also touted the show as the most social program on television Monday night. VH1’s Facebook Live Red Carpet event reached 3 million people, delivered more than 220K live streams and 40K engagements, according to the network.
The show was produced by VH1, Flavor Unit with Shakim Compere and Queen Latifah as executive producers along with Monami Productions with Mona Scott-Young as executive producer and Blacjac Entertainment Group with Jac Benson II as an executive producer. Amy Doyle, Ryan Kroft and Keshia Williams and Elena Diaz were EPS for VH1. Leah Lane and Joe Buoye were Executives in Charge of Production.
