Eline Powell (Game of Thrones) and Rena Owen (The Last Witch Hunter) are set as series regulars on Freeform drama pilot The Deep. Based on a story by Eric Wald and Dean White, The Deep is set in Bristol Cove, a coastal town known for its legend of once being home to mermaids. When the arrival of a mysterious girl proves this folklore all too true, the battle between man and sea takes a very vicious turn as these predatory beings return to reclaim their right to the ocean. Powell will play Po, a strange young woman who appears traumatized and lost. Growing increasingly ill and exhausted on land, Po is revealed to be a mermaid. Owen will portray Helen, the eccentric proprietor of a Bristol Cove curio shop called Helen’s Antiquities. She’s an enigmatic person who views the town’s mermaid obsession with disdain. She also appears to have some connection with Po. Owen is repped by Greene & Associates Talent Agency.
Jason Antoon has booked a series regular role in TNT’s pilot Claws, an hourlong scripted dramedy set in a South Florida nail salon, from Rashida Jones and Will McCormack’s Le Train Train and Warner Horizon. Written and co-executive produced by Eliot Laurence (Welcome to Me), Claws follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous Florida manicurists. We will soon find out there is more going on at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon than silk wraps and pedicures. Antoon will play Dr. Ken Brickman, a bona fide doctor with a decidedly un-bona fide job, working at an illegal drug clinic. Janine Sherman Barrois serves as executive producer/showrunner. Co-executive producer Eliot Laurence wrote the pilot, which will be directed by Nicole Kassell. Antoon, repped by BRS/Gage Talent Agency and Viking Entertainment, recurs on Freeform’s Famous in Love.
