John Krasinski, whose movie The Hollars opens tomorrow, stopped by James Corden‘s The Late Late Show so the two men could reveal they’ve been acting together in movies since 1939. That’s when they were cast in the lead roles in Gone With the Wind. As luck would have it, they were fired from GWTW – or, Gone With Three Hours Of My Life, as Corden calls it. This kept them from being typecast, Krasinski explained, opening the way for them to be co-cast in A Few Good Men and Pulp Fiction. Sadly, they were cut from all of the many film projects in which they appeared together.
Krasinski also guested on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show this week, as he was out promoting The Hollars, but appeared late in that broadcast, following Kimmel’s lengthy interview with Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
In June, Krasinski’s The Hollars was sold in a splashy deal to Sony Pictures Classics. The former The Office star, who made his feature film directorial debut with Brief Interviews With Hideous Men, made a deal with SPC to acquire all rights in the US and Asia to the pic Krasinski directed from a script by Jim Strouse (People Places Things).
The Hollars follows John Hollar (Krasinski), a struggling NYC artist, who returns to the small middle-American town he left behind to see his ill mother, where he gets swept up dealing with his dysfunctional family, high school rival, and ex-girlfriend, as he faces impending fatherhood with his girlfriend back in New York.
