Gregoire Gensollen, who was SVP International Distribution and Strategy at FilmNation, has joined Tucker Tooley‘s film and TV production company Tooley Productions as EVP Finance and Strategy, overseeing financing, strategic planning, business development and operations. This comes as eOne announced a first look co-financing and international distribution deal for feature films with Tooley’s company. Gensollen has been involved in the financial wherewithal of many critically acclaimed films.
At FilmNation Entertainment, Gensollen ran distribution, strategy and film finance and oversaw all releases worldwide for more than 60 titles. Noteworthy are Best Picture Oscar winner The King’s Speech, The Imitation Game, Nebraska, Room, Mud and others such as Looper and Magic Mike. He most recently closed loans and helped structure the financing deals for Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival and John Lee Hancock’s The Founder, which are set to be released this year.
His role at Tooley Productions will include structuring and overseeing first-look and output deals with financiers, foreign and domestic partners, the structuring of finance plans for the company’s film and TV productions and establishing partnerships with new-media companies to produce and finance virtual reality and digital series.
Before working at FilmNation, Gensollen was VP International Sales and Planning at Lionsgate, where he handled international strategic evaluations for film and television as well as Lionsgate UK’s acquisitions and local productions.
