I’ve learned that The Spectacular Now helmer James Ponsoldt is set to direct the half-hour Amazon comedy pilot The Legend of Master Legend, from writers Micah Fitzerman-Blue & Noah Harpster (Transparent).
Based on Joshuah Bearman’s Rolling Stone article about real-life superheroes, the project centers on Master Legend and his sidekick, the Ace. Fitzerman-Blue and Harpster are executive producing with Bearman. Shooting begins next month.
Ponsoldt is currently in post on The Circle, a film based on Dave Eggers’ novel, which he adapted, directed and produced. He’s also set to write, produce and direct a narrative feature adaptation of Rob Tannenbaum and Craig Marks’ book I Want My MTV: The Uncensored Story of the Music Video Revolution. On the television side, Ponsoldt most recently shot the pilot for Aziz Ansari’s Master of None, and previously directed Shameless and Parenthood. He is repped by UTA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Fitzerman-Blue and Harpster are repped by UTA, Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment and attorney Jamie Feldman.
