EXCLUSIVE: Up-and-coming German actress Bella Dayne has joined the cast of Guerrilla, a six-episode drama from American Crime creator John Ridley.
The mini-series, which is currently filming in London, will see Dayne join Idris Elba and Freida Pinto in a story set in the 1970s in the UK capital during the birth of the Black Power movement. It sees a politically active couple and their idealism tested when they form a guerrilla cell dedicated to fighting back against a racist police force. Their ultimate target becomes the Black Power Desk, a true-life, secretive counterintelligence unit within Special Branch dedicated to crushing all forms of black activism. Dayne will play Eliette, a member of a radical group lying low in London.
Ridley, who won an Oscar for his script for 12 Years a Slave, writes and executive produces Guerrilla and is set to direct the first few episodes as well as the finale. Sam Miller will direct the remaining episodes. It will air next year on Showtime in the U.S. and Sky Atlantic in the UK. Co-star Elba also exec produces the program through his Green Door Pictures banner while ABC Signature Studios produces.
Dayne has just finished filming a new regular role in Channel 4 and AMC’s Humans. She was featured as a series regular in Plebs and Amazon’s Man in the High Castle and has had roles in CBS’ Person of Interest, FX’s American Horror Story, Don’t Hang Up and Sex Guaranteed opposite Stephen Dorff.
She is repped by Identity Agency Group, Authentic Talent and Cunningham Escott Slevin & Doherty.
