Rooney Mara has signed on to star in Vox Lux, director Brady Corbet’s pop-star drama that follows up his 2015 historical mystery drama The Childhood of a Leader.
Set between 1999 and the present day, Vox Lux follows the rise of Celeste from the ashes of a major national tragedy to pop superstardom. This 15-year odyssey tracks the important cultural evolution of the 21st century via her gaze.
Christine Vachon and David Hinojosa of Killer Films will produce along with Brian Young of Three Six Zero Entertainment. Filming will begin in February on the pic, which will be shot on 65mm film and exhibit in 70mm. WME Global is repping the film’s worldwide rights..
Mara is fresh off an impressive run at Toronto Film Festival, where she premiered three pics: Una, Lion and The Secret Scripture. She is repped by WME and Management 360.
