EXCLUSIVE: TriStar has set Sheldon Turner to adapt Wolf Boys, the Dan Slater nonfiction book published this month by Simon & Schuster. Antoine Fuqua, whose new film The Magnificent Seven opens Friday, is developing the Mexican cartel book as a directing and producing vehicle. The drama follows two American teens recruited as killers for a Mexican cartel, and a Mexican-American detective who pursue them and who is worn down by the futility of the drug war.
That gives three percolating Sony movie projects for Turner, who with Jason Reitman adapted Up In The Air, and whose credits include The Longest Yard. His script Mallory is moving again at the studio. That is the adaption of the Jeffrey Archer book Paths Of Glory, about the attempts by George Mallory to summit Mount Everest. Doug Liman is directing, and Jennifer Klein is producing with Liman’s Hypnotic partner Dave Bartis and Doug Belgrad. The other Turner project is Sniper Elite, an action movie that has Jaume Collet Serra attached to direct, based on a fictional series by Scott McEwen, one of the American Sniper authors. Klein and Kevin Misher are producing. Turner is repped by CAA.
