Phoebe Dynevor (Dickensian) has been cast as a series regular on Snatch, the drama series for Sony’s streaming network Crackle that’s based on the 2000 Jason Statham-Brad Pitt movie. Rupert Grint and Luke Pasqualino star in the series, which will carry the spirit of the setting in the film, while creating a new world with new characters. It revolves around a group of up-and-coming twentysomething hustlers who stumble upon a truckload of stolen gold bullion and suddenly are thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime. No character details for English actress Dynevor, most recently seen in the BBC series Dickensian and before that The Village, Prisoners Wives and Waterloo Road. She is repped by Gersh, Luber Roklin and United in the UK.
Jona Xiao (Halt and Catch Fire) has booked a recurring role in Season 4 of BET’s Being Mary Jane, which follows the sometimes disastrous personal and professional life of news anchor Mary Jane Paul (Gabrielle Union). Xiao will play Natalie Wu, a correspondent who works on Mary Jane’s morning news team. Richard Roundtree, Margaret Avery, Richard Brooks, Lisa Vidal, B.J. Britt, Aaron Spears, Latarsha Rose and Stephen Bishop co-star. Xiao recurs on AMC’s 1980s personal-computer drama Halt and Catch Fire as Mutiny’s first female coder and is filming a role in Spider-Man: Homecoming. She next will be seen in the features Keeping Up with the Joneses and Gifted. The China-born actress is repped by Pantheon and Industry Entertainment.
