Cinépolis is expanding its relationship with the Seoul-based 4D cinema company CJ 4DPLEX to bring a 4DX immersive cinema experience to at least twelve additional screens. The movie theater circuit already has 49 screens operating in 10 countries that provide 4DX auditoriums and is looking add more screens around the world by the end of 2017.
CJ 4DPLEX’s 4DX technology enhances the onscreen visuals of action-packed films, enabling a completely enhanced event that transcends the traditional cinema experience through motion-activated seats and special effects including wind, fog, rain, lighting, vibrations and scents. The result is that 4DX, going beyond 3D, adds visual, aural, olfactory and tactile dimensions to the film-viewing experience, lending itself perfectly to movies of all genres. In Los Angeles, 4DX is available at the Regal L.A. Live Stadium 14.
Currently, there are more than 36,000 4DX seats operating in 286 theatres in 41 countries, with approximately one new screen opening every two weeks as the format continues to grow in popularity. In fact, it was recently announced that We Kill Death, the next movie from Hardcore Henry exec producers Alex A. Ginzburg and Tony Lee, will be the first film made exclusively for the 4DX platform.
