Fox, the network of New Girl, is developing another comedy about a young woman with a messy personal life. The untitled single-camera comedy is from actress-writer Erin Foster and Greg Berlanti‘s Berlanti Productions.
Written by Foster, the project centers on a young mess of a woman who moves in with her fiancé, only to have him tell her he’s gay. Their co-dependent natures allow for them to continue living together as friends.
Foster executive produces alongside Berlanti Productions’ Berlanti and Sarah Schechter as well as 3 Arts Entertainment’s Oly Obst and Josh Lieberman. Warner Bros TV, where Berlanti Prods. is based, is the studio. There is no acting deal in place for Foster but she could potentially star.
Foster’s series credits include VH1’s reality parody Barely Famous, which she executive produces and stars in alongside her sister Sara. She has done guest appearances on such series as NCIS: Los Angeles, Castle and Tell Me You Love Me and has written for the NBC comedy The New Normal. She is repped by WME and 3 Arts.
This is the latest sale for Berlanti Prods this season and its second comedy along with Raised By Wolves, written by Diablo Cody, which has a script plus penalty commitment at ABC. On the drama side, the company has two projects with pilot production commitments: Black Lightning at Fox, written by Salim Akil & Mara Brock Akil, and Deception at ABC, written by Chris Fedak. At ABC, the company also has a put pilot commitment for drama Criminal, written by Blindspot‘s Martin Gero and Brendan Gall, and also is developing drama The Marquis, written by Jake Coburn and exec produced by Julie Plec. At the CW, Berlanti Prods., repped by WME, has drama Casa, penned by Ed Gonzalez & Jeremy Haft.
