Austin Stowell has joined Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon and Michael Pena in Nicolai Fuglsig’s Horse Soldiers, the drama based on Doug Stanton’s nonfiction book adapted by Peter Craig and Ted Tally. It is about a U.S. Special Forces team and their untested captain sent to a rugged region of Afghanistan in the weeks after 9/11. Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Black Label Media are producing with Lionsgate distributing. Chad Oman will exec produce. Stowell will play Staff Sergeant Fred Falls, an American Soldier on the elite U.S. Special Forces team. Stowell has been on a hot streak lately – working with top notch directors including Steven Spielberg in Bridge of Spies, Damien Chazelle’s Whiplash and Edward Burns’ Public Morals. He’ll be seen next opposite Anne Hathaway and Jonathan Dayton in Nacho Vigalondo’s Colossal and in Valerie Faris’ Battle of the Sexes with Emma Stone. He is repped by CAA and ROAR.
Rahart Adams has been added to the Steven S. DeKnight-directed Pacific Rim 2, the sequel to Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham 2013 sci-fi film. He joins topliners John Boyega and Scott Eastwood as well as Jing Tian, Cailee Spaeny and Adria Arjona. Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and del Toro will produce pic with Boyega’s Upper Room Productions. Cale Boyter is the executive producing the film, which is set for release February 23, 2018 by Universal Pictures. Adams is best known for his role in the Nickelodeon’s Every Witch Way and and has also been cast in the AwesomenessTV series Foursome for Youtube Red. He is with Primary Wave Entertainment, Triple Talent Management, and Nelson Davis.
