Streaming service Crackle has set Thursday, January 12, for the premiere of its original film Mad Families, a multigenerational comedy executive produced by Charlie Sheen and starring Sheen alongside Leah Remini.
Directed and produced by Fred Wolf (Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser) from a script by Wolf & David Spade, the film centers on three families – one Hispanic, one African-American, one Caucasian – who end up sharing the same camping space over the Fourth of July weekend. After none of them volunteers to leave, the families must figure out a way to share the space peacefully, eventually settling on a series of competitions to determine the winner.
Sheen’s character is described as a lovable man-child with a heart of gold who quips and complains his way through the weekend, but learns through the help of his family and fellow campers what is most important in life. Remini plays his stepmother.
Starring alongside Sheen and Remini are Finesse Mitchell (Roadies), Juan Gabriel Pareja (Goliath), Charlotte McKinney (Joe Dirt 2), Naya Rivera (Glee), Chris Mulkey (CSI: Cyber), Clint Howard (Key & Peele), Chanel Iman (Dope), Barry Shabaka Henley (Brothers in Atlanta), Lil Rel Howery (The Carmichael Show), Tiffany Haddish (The Carmichael Show), Efren Ramirez (Eastbound and Down) and Danny Mora (Chop Shop).
Mad Families is the second outing between Crackle and Wolf following Joe Dirt 2.
