Longtime UTA Corporate Communications head Chris Day will exit the agency at year’s end. The exit was announced today jointly by Day and UTA managing directors David Kramer, Jay Sures and CEO Jeremy Zimmer. This ends a 17-year run for Day; that is a long time in a major agency job known for burning people out in that post.
The exit was amicable, and Day will look for the next challenge. He oversaw UTA’s communications strategy during the agency’s rise, and in the acquisitions of broadcast news talent agency Bienstock and the indie music deal maker The Agency Group. He was a point person in the formation of the non-profit UTA Foundation, the percentery’s research department, its consulting practice, the formation of UTA Fine Arts and launch of UTA Artist Space.
Said UTA CEO Jeremy Zimmer: “Chris is a consummate pro who has led our media strategy through many game-changing events in our history. We are grateful for the invaluable counsel he has provided to the agency and our clients, and for the many ways he has gone above and beyond his role. We reluctantly accept his decision to leave, and we look forward to working with him in whatever role he tackles next.”
Day called the agency “an extraordinary place that has given me unlimited opportunity…I’m grateful to Jeremy and the Board for entrusting me with this role for 17 years. It’s an incredibly tough decision to leave a company I’m so proud to be a part of, but after a long run, I’m excited to explore new challenges.”
